We asked Coach Marosi where we came up with the names for the teams:
"Ed Murphy and Frank Barron were the originators of hockey in Minnesota. The Warbirds have always believe in tradition. As Dakota, we payed homage to the Dakota Tribe that founded the land and since our name switch to Minnesota, we want to pay tribute to those that introduced the game that we play."
Each squad has its roster in place.
The Ed Murphy team will be coached by alternate captain Matt Mahoney. The line-up for this team consists of:
Team Ed Murphy
Charlie Hooker C 85
Chris Coogan C 85
Matt Mahoney LW 75
Scott Edmonds LW 75
Matt Todd LW 65
Zac Abrams RW 75
Dan Torsiello RW 70
Ryan McDonnell RW 65
Kristian Marosi D 90
Greg Ezell D 85
Brad Terry D 65
Oscar Lindtröm D 65
Robi Albert G 85
The Frank Barron team will be coached by both Patrick Ng and Chris Bell, which should prove to be something different as Ng has only been a Warbird for 1 season and Bell is new to the team.
The team consists of:
Team Frank Barron
Adam Stevens C 80
Ryan Sassaman C 75
Priscilla Williams C 70
Miika Kemppinen LW 85
Sawyer Withers LW 75
Jon Roger LW 60
Chris Bell RW 80
Kenneth Lehtinen RW 80
Brent von Rist RW 65
Eric Baily D 85
Dylan Withers D 80
Patrick Ng D 80
Jamie Shimbashi D 70
Patrick Walford G 65
"I feel confident in having these players coaching the squad," Said Marosi. "Eric (Baily) and I will have absolutely no input during the inter-squad games. We will save that for the meetings and drills, but during the squad games, it is Matt's, Patrick's and Chris' call."
The inter-squad games will be open to the public, however, they will be the only public access throughout training camp.
"We have a plethora of new talent so we don't want them distracted while going through practice." Marosi said in a short interview.
The Warbirds are gearing up to welcome the Toronto Vipers in to the Frank Barron Pavilion to open the season.
